I Was Bitten By A Dog, Can I Sue?

Yes, you can sue for just about anything; the question is whether or not you have the proper legal grounds and authority to win. There are many things to know, here are just a few:

1. You should know your local and state statutes, etc. with regard to law on this area and whether or not there is a strict responsibility issue involved.

2. Did the owner or handler of the dog do something negligently. For example, was that person in violation of the "leash law," etc.?

3. Did the owner of the dog or handler know that the dog had a propensity to bite? Had the dog bitten anyone in the past?

There are many other things to know before you make a decision to sue or not...so, contact an attorney to protect your rights

Can I Sue Even If I Was Partially At Fault

Contibutory negligence does not bar recovery in an action by any person or the person’s legal representative to recover damages for negligence resulting in death or in injury to person or property, if that negligence was not greater than the negligence of the person against whom recovery is sought, but any damages allowed shall be diminished in the proportion to the amount of negligence attributed to the person recovering.

The Insurance Company Is Not Your Friend

If you are injured and it is not your fault you may be entitled to be compensated for any injury that you have sustained. Whether it be a slip and fall or an automobile accident, you must know what your rights and options are so that you can be fairly compensated for your injuries. Insurance company agents often time portray themselves as friendly people out to help you. Don't be fooled, the insurance agent is there to persuade you to take a quick and low dollar amount settlement to protect his or her company. They are good at their job and may convince you that your case isn't worth much and that it is in your best interest to settle. But, remember, they are not looking out for your best interests.

The following is a video I found on YouTube that discusses insurance company tactics that illustrate they are not on your side.
